Ceramic coasters. Perfected by hand.

A small thing you touch every day — under your morning coffee, your evening glass of wine. We make each one by hand in our studio in Portugal, over three weeks, so an ordinary table becomes something you actually enjoy looking at.

Calm in deep green.

Eucaliptus brings a quiet touch of nature to a reading corner — a grounding accent that makes the armchair the best seat in the house.

Depth and character.

Selva’s deep, glossy green gives a moody interior its strongest accent — bold, yet at home among raw, earthy textures.

Technique

Portugal’s most iconic craft.

A ceramic technique of Arabic origin, cultivated in Portugal for over 500 years — and today practised by only a handful of craftspeople. The pattern isn’t painted on a flat surface: it is pressed into the clay in relief, and every colour has a field of its own.

A hand carving a pattern into a plaster mould with a steel needle
Drawing

Carved into the mould.

The pattern is carved into a plaster mould with a steel needle, line by line. No stencils, no prints.

Rows of clay coasters freshly pressed from the mould, showing the raised relief
Relief

Pressed into clay.

Clay is pressed into the mould and takes on a precise relief. The carved lines become raised edges that separate the colours.

Glaze being applied by pipette into the fields of an orange pattern
Colour

Glazed by pipette.

Each field is filled with glaze from a small pipette, colour by colour. The raised edges keep the glazes from mixing.

Firing

Fired in the kiln.

In the kiln the glaze melts and fuses with the clay into a hard, glossy surface. The true colours appear only after firing.

Cork

A base of Portuguese cork.

Each coaster is backed with natural Portuguese cork, which protects the table and stops it from sliding. The cork is stamped Miradouro Cerâmica, Made in Portugal.

Ready

Three weeks later.

11 stages and about three weeks from mould to finished coaster. Slight differences between pieces are a mark of handwork, not a flaw.
